Gael García Bernal received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2014, at the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival, in a year that also honoured Danis Tanović and Agnès Troublé. He is the Mexican actor of Amores Perros (2000), Y Tu Mamá También (2001) and The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), and one of Latin American cinema’s best-known figures abroad.
He was honoured in the festival’s twentieth year, as it moved decisively into its second identity: a festival that had grown beyond the region and could now call the world’s film people its own.
Also honoured in 2014
- Agnès Troublé (Agnès B.) Fashion designer
- Danis Tanović Film director and screenwriter
