What we collect, why, and how to opt out.

Explore Sarajevo is written and maintained by Nedim Hadzimahmutovic (“the editor”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the site collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how readers find and use the site. GA4 collects:
- Pages visited, time on page, and scroll depth.
- Approximate geographic location (country/city level, never precise coordinates).
- Device type, browser, and operating system.
- Referral source (how you arrived — search engine, social link, direct).
GA4 uses first-party cookies set by Google. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by declining cookies via the consent banner on this site.
We may also run Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool. When active, Plausible collects no personal data and sets no cookies.
Advertising
This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on:
- Your prior visits to this site and other websites.
- Your interests as inferred by Google from your browsing activity.

Third-party vendors

- Gumroad — payment processing for the PDF bundle. Gumroad’s own privacy policy applies when you make a purchase.
- Leaflet / OpenStreetMap — the interactive map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap. OSM’s privacy policy applies to tile requests.
