Willem Dafoe received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2025, at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, completing the class with Sorrentino, Skarsgård and Winstone. He is the American actor of Platoon (1986), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), Poor Things (2023) and more than a hundred other films.
One of the most respected actors of his generation, he has spent his career refusing to settle into one mode — blockbusters, art cinema, experimental theatre, and everything between. His award, like the rest of the 2025 class, honoured a working lifetime of range rather than a single era.
