Ray Winstone received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2025, at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, in the same class as Sorrentino, Skarsgård and Dafoe. He is the British actor of Nil by Mouth (1997), Sexy Beast (2000), The Departed (2006) and Beowulf (2007).
His early career was built in television, and his breakthrough in Gary Oldman’s brutal, personal Nil by Mouth made him one of the defining faces of British realism. The 31st edition’s four-name class mixed a Palme-level auteur with three of European and American cinema’s hardest-working actors.
