Stellan Skarsgård received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2025, at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, in the same class as Sorrentino, Ray Winstone and Willem Dafoe. He is the Swedish actor of Breaking the Waves (1996), Good Will Hunting (1997) and the series Chernobyl (2019), and a regular in Lars von Trier’s films.
He is one of the most prolific working actors in Europe, comfortable in both American franchises and European art cinema. He told the press before the edition that he loved coming to the festival — a small, warm statement from a veteran of the circuit.
