Michel Franco received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2020, at the 26th Sarajevo Film Festival, in the same class as Mads Mikkelsen. He is the Mexican director of After Lucia (2012) — which won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes — Chronic (2015) and New Order (2020).
The 2020 edition was the first held under the shadow of the pandemic, and its two-name class kept to the roll’s recent pattern: one international auteur, one global star.
