Nijaz Hastor received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2018, at the 24th Sarajevo Film Festival, in the same class as Nuri Bilge Ceylan. He is the Bosnian businessman who built the ASA Prevent Group and the founder of the Hastor Foundation, one of the larger private scholarship operations in the country.
His award continues the patron thread on the roll — the business figures and foundations whose money keeps the festival and the country’s cultural life running. The 2018 pairing is the now-standard mix: one international artist, one regional builder.
