Gavrilo Grahovac received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo in 2006, at the 12th Sarajevo Film Festival. He was the Bosnian politician — former minister of culture and sports — whose ministry helped carry the festival through its first decade.
The 2006 award is a portrait of what the Honorary Heart was for in its early years. The roll reads as a list of the people who made the festival possible in a country just past the siege: ministry officials, diplomats, fund managers, producers. Grahovac is one of the three Bosnian names on the roll to date, alongside the director Danis Tanović (2014) and the actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović (2026).
