Marijin Dvor is where the Habsburg city gave way to the Yugoslav one. The name means "Mary's Court", after a Habsburg-era estate. Juraj Neidhardt's 1960 master plan laid the civic axis here: the National Museum (Karel Pařík, 1913) on one side of Zmaja od Bosne, the History Museum (Magaš, Šmidihen, Horvat, 1958) on the other. The Avaz Twist Tower, completed in 2008, is the tallest building in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbourhood's vertical landmark. The tram runs through the middle. From Marijin Dvor westward the city opens into the wider valley: Skenderija, Koševo, Ciglane. The National Museum holds the Sarajevo Haggadah. The History Museum's permanent exhibition on the siege is worth an hour at minimum. Both are within three minutes' walk of the Marijin Dvor tram stop.
